The rats who started
it all

RAT HIDERS
Once upon a time...
two of our founders, Little Stinker and Cheddy Mac went to a rave in Joshua Tree, CA. This rave wasn't very fun. While trying to enjoy the music, a girl who will not be named started annoying Little Stinker and Cheddy Mac. They wanted her to leave them alone, but she gave them chips, their one weakness. They had no choice but to engage in conversation with her. At one point in this conversation, she was trying to remember a card game that started with the letter "R". She started saying, "Ruh... ruh,,," And Cheddy Mac butts in and says "RAT HIDERS!" "NO!" Says the girl. Cheddy Mac and Little Stinker spent the rest of the night trying to convince this girl that Rat Hiders was a real game, even though she surely knew they were lying. Who would play a game called "Rat Hiders" anyway? So Cheddy Mac and Little Stinker set out on a mission to turn Rat Hiders into a real game, get it on the shelves of stores worldwide, and wait to see this girl's reaction when she discovers that Rat Hiders is, in fact, a real game.
After the rave, Little Stinker and Cheddy Mac came to the other two founders, Big Dawg and Woods Jesus, and told them about their genius idea. Obviously Big Dawg and Woods Jesus were in, and the crew set off on a mission to develop Rat Hiders into the best card game anyone has ever played. The founders and their trusted friends spent 6 months brainstorming, testing, and designing this game until they got it perfectly wacky. Now they are in the process of producing Rat Hiders, creating high quality marketing content, kickstarting their funds, and getting the game on some shelves. Stay in touch with us so you can be informed when the official Rat Hiders card game releases!
Big Dawg doesn't bark, she bites. From a high stakes job in security to building websites and flying kids to safety in helicopters as a wilderness guide, Big Dawg does it all. Although small in stature you'll quickly realize her energy looms above all. Big Dawg may be found often swimming in high alpine lakes or trapped in a claw machine with the stuffed animals just trying to make a friend.

Woods Jesus

Brayden
Despite his name he is neither woods nor Jesus, although he is in touch with the trees and will embrace all lovingly. Before he became woods jesus he had many adventures, learning to cook and bake masterfully while also going on top secret missions that if he told you about... he would have to kill you, eventually getting a degree in game development and becoming an integral part of the Rat Hiders family. Woods Jesus may be found shredding on his snowboard on a large mountain or going up an escalator in the wrong direction.
Little Stinker didn't get this name for no reason. He is often late, prioritizes partying over work, and embezzles company funds so he can buy beer. He is honestly horrible to work with. We keep him because he is kind of like a cute lost puppy dog that won't stop following us around. You can often find him sleeping in some strange man's house or hiding under the table because he always gets caught with rats.

What can we say about Cheddy Mac you wouldn't already know? He's Americas sweetheart, a lighthouse of a man in a sea of shirts. Guiding kids through deserts and climbing the biggest rocks he can find to directing award winning short films and galavanting across the world spreading joy everywhere he goes, the last semblance of an old age; a modern day cowboy. Often may be found as far from a city as possible or having fallen into a large bag of potato chips.

The Rat Hiders Philosophy
We love rats
You love rats
Everybody loves rats
Well, maybe not everybody, but we're working on convincing the world that rats are the most loveable creatures and that Rat Hiders is the best game ever.
Anyway, we came here to share a little about the game's upbringing and how we would like to see the joy we felt while creating the game ripple out across the universe.
We first started developing Rat Hiders in a cabin that we lived in together while working on an outdoor program for children. All we had was a deck of regular playing cards and our imaginations. Aces were Rats and 2's were Safety Snowmen, and... that was about it. We played the game like this for a while until we got a better idea of the rules of the game.
Then came the fun part: Drawing the rats
This time, we were locked up in a motel in Bakersfield, CA. We had nothing better to do than to continue to work on Rat Hiders. We worked out more of the rules and we drew our first rats! Here are a few of the originals:
We were so proud of our art that we showed our friends and played Rat Hiders with them. They loved the game so much that they started drawing their own rats. It got to the point where we started buying as many cheap playing cards from the thrift store as we could. Any time we played Rat Hiders with a new group of people, we let them draw their own rats, creating their own unique decks. Sometime people didn't want to play the game, but of course they wanted to draw rats! Everyone got so excited to draw a rat and it made us so happy to see all the ways people interpret rats. Rats can be ANYTHING! This part of the process was so fun that we included blank rat cards in every deck so you all have a chance to draw unique rats for your decks!
Just because the game is created and the official rat designs are out, does NOT mean that we're done making rats. In fact, we're only getting started. As we grow, we never want to stop making new rats, seeing everyone else's rats, and spreading rats among the world. We have plans to produce expansion packs with new Rats, rules, and Not a Rats. We hope to create a digital space where everyone can share their rats. We'd like to commission artists (perhaps yourselves!) to create super cool rat designs. We have so many ideas and plans and we can't wait to make them reality!
If you've just finished reading this and you're feeling inspired to draw a rat, please send us a picture of it! Nothing makes us happier than seeing how our own inspirations inspire others!
We love rats, and we love you!
